Microdec client CBSbutler is leading the way as recruiters come forward to redeploy workers and contractors into new posts following manufacturer Bombardier’s decision to shed more than 1,200 UK jobs.
Bombardier recently announced in a statement it is to cut 7k jobs worldwide including 580 aerospace jobs in Northern Ireland plus a further 500 next year. Meanwhile, 270 jobs are to go at its Derby-headquartered train building business.
Additionally, around 380 temporary workers are being released from their assignments with the company this year, including 60 that already left the company in January.
David Leyshon, chairman at technical recruiter CBSbutler, told Recruiter some of his account managers have been in touch with Bombardier’s Northern Ireland aerospace business, adding these workers skills are “eminently” redeployable at electrical and mechanical engineering manufacturing companies.
“We intend to liaise with their HR and outplacement functions with a view to consult with the guys and determine what the [career] options are based on their skill set,” Leyshon added.
