Workplace

Workplace is a recruitment centre in Newham that is committed to helping employers find the right local people to work for them and to supporting local people who want those jobs. Workplace's free service is on offer to Newham residents and employers across London.

Workplace was developed to make sure local people benefit from local regeneration. A one-stop-shop where Newham residents can receive advice about their employment options or guidance about business start-up, and where employers across London can place their vacancies to recruit quality staff.

Workplace has two fixed sites in Stratford and Canning Town, and also conducts regular outreach at children's centres, libraries, and community centres across the borough.

Workplace opened in May 2007, and since then they have supported over 2200 people into employment, and have helped more than 300 businesses fill their vacancies.

The Workplace team are experts in their field. Derek Barrett, Workplace Centre Manager comments "We understand the needs of our customers, whether you are an employer or a jobseeker".

The brief

Workplace wanted a system that could handle the recruitment and training provision workflow. The system had to be intuitive, easy to use yet manage the entire process. Data collected was being stored in many different areas, therefore Workplace needed a central storage for such data & documents.

The system needed to be robust and work across multiple offices to enable Workplace to deliver the best service.

The solution

After researching many systems, Profile RPM clearly outscored the other systems, and by delivering full recruitment functionality for 80 staff for less than their budgeted implementation costs. It met all the required specifications, including functionality over multiple sites, configurability for possible changes later down the line, the capacity for bespoke reporting and a detailed performance management system.

"Our dedicated Microdec Project Manager assisted us throughout the deployment of the RPM system, and our existing records were transferred into RPM to allow a seamless transition from our old system. Staff training was provided, covering all levels of user responsibility with ease".
